Editorial - The Prime Minister's Cabinet
THE APPOINTMENTS to the Cabinet announced by Mrs Portia Simpson Miller should be seen as a pragmatic approach primarily aimed at maintaining the image of unity within the governing People's National Party.

Women, take control!
CONGRATULATIONS TO our new Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller. Unfortunately, many of the women to whom this article is intended either cannot read it, or could not care less about its content and therein lies much of Jamaica's problems.

ON TUESDAY, I listened to the extraordinary meeting of the joint houses of Parliament in honour of outgoing Prime Minister Percival Noel James Patterson. It was his day as members of both sides of the houses heaped praises on him.


The next order of business
AT LAST, Portia Lucretia Simpson Miller is Prime Minister of Jamaica. It was a glorious day for thousands of people at King's House when she took the Oath of Office last Thursday - a rare excitement shared by the rest of the island.


In the beginning God
"I WANT to begin by recognising ... Almighty God." This is how the Most Hon. Portia L. Simpson Miller began her address at her swearing-in ceremony last Thursday. The PM has been open in expressing her faith in God.
