PORTMORE UNITED were held to tame 0-0 by Boys' Town in their Wray and Nephew National Premier League game yesterday at Ferdie Neita Park. Portmore, who drew their 15th game of the season, dominated the first half but failed to score due to poor finishing.
Kevin Deerr, Anthony Bennett and Kemeel Wolf all missed good scoring chances for Portmore. Meanwhile, Denzil Watson, O'Neil Thompson and George Vernal also missed chances for the visitors.
SQUANDERED CHANCES
The second half was evenly contested, but both teams again squandered a number of good chances. Portmore's Deerr's close-range header was spectacularly saved by goalkeeper Philmore Crumbie in the 66th minute while Boys' Town's Watson had a long-range shot tipped over the bar by Portmore goalkeeper Shawn Sawyers. Portmore coach Paul Young was very disappointed after the game.
"It wasn't a bad game. We got the chances but we could not score and as we all know goals win matches," Young said. Boys' Town coach, Andrew Price, was pleased with the draw.
"I am happy with the result. We played competitively and playing away from home and playing a quality team like Portmore it is always going to be tough," Price said.
"Nonetheless we have gotten a point and I am happy for that," he said.
