Jabez enlarges boundaries, plans 'fire'
published: Friday | April 7, 2006

Teino Evans, Staff Reporter

JABEZ

GOSPEL SINGER Clive Provost, more popularly known as Jabez, has indeed been 'enlarging the boundaries' since the release of his debut album of the same name.

"I was in Fort Lauderdale doing some promotions on the first album (Enlarging the Boundaries) and prior to that I did some shows in New York and some other cities. Mi start the new album already and hopefully by this summer we can release it, because everyone is already in high anticipation of it; it will be called Jabez Fire. Wi all get some orders for the new album already," Jabez said.

A BLEND

"We are going to have like praise and worship, one-drop reggae and couple traditional songs, just a blend, because the fans dem request it because the last album had variety. For the first album, the responses from overseas especially have been tremendous. We had a show last year in the Bronx and New Jersey and they were all sold out," he said.

Now Jabez has been booked to appear at his first major show in Canada, where he will be the headline act.

"The show is coming up on April 22 at Malton Church of God in Canada. It will feature other top artistes in Canada and this is the first major show for me in Canada. The show is being promoted by Harvest Time Promotions. I have been to Canada before, but not as the headline act, so I'm looking forward to this show and persons can come out and expect to gain a blessing, the anointing is gonna flow, a lot of energy," Jabez said.

Other artistes for the event are Brent Taylor, Sonia Reid, Collinton Daley, Tiana O'Connor and Pepse Brown.

Following this show, Jabez will be in Hartford, Connecticut, on May 13 and he says he is going all out this year.

MORE WORK

"Non-stop work. Right now mi throat all tired, because I was even one of the guest singers at the thing in Spanish Town on Wednesday. Close to 9,000 persons turned out," he said.

"I have to complete my next album by summer, that's my burning issue right now. We completed over 50 per cent of the tracks already, but because of my touring I haven't been able to spend as much time on it. But apart from that, people can continue to look out for some great work from Jabez," he said.

Some of his more popular songs are You Are Healed, Zion Medley and Just Wanna Praise You.
