TOMORROW'S WELL supported 12-race programme at Caymanas Park which features the 67th running of the Jamaica Oaks over 2000 metres boasts a Pick-9 carryover of $1 million.
The Easter Monday meet marked the second consecutive raceday that the Pick-9 had no takers, thanks mainly to a 10-1 upset by the Peter McMaster-trained EXPLOSIVE PEAK in the Easter Sprint Cup.
The Super-6, meanwhile, saw one punter walking away over $600,000 richer. It starts anew with the guaranteed minimum of $500,000.
Tomorrow's Pick-9 embraces races four to 12, while their are two Super-6s on the card. We look at the second Super-6.
It gets underway with the Jamaica Oaks in which only six native bred three-year-old fillies have been declared, including the recent 1000 Guineas winner SWING BY with leading jockey Charles Hussey again at the helm.
From the stables of champion trainer Wayne DaCosta, SWING BY really has little to beat and represents a five-star banker in the small field. Reporting well trained, she should make all the running at the expense of stable-companion QUEEN OF MY HEART who was fourth in the Guineas.
Next on the programme is a $290,000 - $260,000 claiming race in which the down in class OH NO GRANDPA looks the pick of the weights with only 52.0kg and former champion jockey Trevor Simpson aboard.
Trained by Philbert Watson, the five-year-old gelding could only manage ninth place to THUNDER SQUAD in a recent overnight allowance race at 140 metres, but now taking a significant step down the claiming ladder, should be good enough to win from KEELER and GOLCONDA.
DON LIMPIO, who ran a blinder in defeat last Saturday when forcing MIRACLE MAN to be extended in winning the Legal Trophy race over the circular nine course, should go one better over a similar trip in the ninth race where BANJUHAR and NATURAL DESIRE are twin dangers. BANJUHAR, an easy winner over the distance on February 4, looks the principal danger.
FAST BREAK, having finished 2 3/4 lengths fifth to CROP OVER in a recent 1200-metre race, should come into her own and win the 10th race for conditional $160,000 claimers. FRENCH MINISTER and RESHMA are her rivals in a field of 14. FAST BREAK is not only regaining form but has been eased considerably in the weights for tomorrow's engagement.
The last two races should be won by the well-trained FORMALLY GOLD and SOLID SOLUTION. Their respective dangers are the impressive QUIET STRENGTH now bidding to make it seven in a row in the 11th race for the Lady Geeta Trophy and the straight five specialist HEAVENLY DREAMS in the 12th.
