St. Catherine:

SEVERAL BUSINESSES in Spanish Town, St. Catherine had to close their doors earlier than usual yesterday, following the arrest of two men by the Spanish Town Police on suspicion of murder.

The men have been identified as Rohan Hope, otherwise called 'Placka' of Ellerslie Pen, and a man known only as 'Chris', also of Ellerslie Pen. Both men are said to be affiliated with the One Order gang in Spanish Town. Hope, the brother of the late Andrew 'Bun Man' Hope, who was the reputed leader of the One Order gang, has reportedly taken over the leadership.

MEN PICKED UP

It is reported that about 3:00 p.m. yesterday, a police party went into the Ellerslie Pen area where they picked up both men and took them to the Spanish Town police station. As news of their arrest spread, residents set about blocking several sections of the Tawes Pen main road and ordered the closure of businesses along French Street, Cumberland Road, Wellington Street and sections of Young Street.

Deputy Superintendent in charge of operation, Anthony Castell, told The Gleaner that the men were taken into custody and were being processed.

Checks at the Spanish Town police station revealed that the men are being questioned about a murder that occurred in the Old Capital recently.
