August Town take Super title
published: Sunday | April 30, 2006

Robert Bailey, Gleaner Writer

AUGUST TOWN are the 2005/2006 Jamaica National/ KSAFA Super League champions following their 2-0 victory over Greenwich Town in their final match of the season at the UWI Bowl yesterday.

August Town now advance to the play-off for a spot in the National Premier League next season.

Neville Brown gave August Town the lead in the 36th minute through a beautiful close-range header from just inside the six-yard box.

ONLY KEEPER TO BEAT

A minute later, Brown should have added his team's second goal after he was sent through by teammate Jermaine Stewart and, with only the 'keeper to beat, his right-foot shot went wide of
the target.

August Town dominated the rest of the first half and found their second goal in the 41st minute when Stewart beat the Greenwich Town offside trap and fired home from close range past a hapless Andre Douglas.

The second half was keenly contested with both teams missing a number of clear chances.

August Town's Brown, Stewart, Anthony Myers and Nicholas Smith squandered good opportunities, while David Shuts, Ophis Bernard and Marvin Powell missed for Greenwich Town.
