THE JAMAICA Netball Association (JNA) has announced Sonya Hamilton as its new Chief Executive Officer.
The appointment of Hamilton, who holds a Masters of Science degree in applied behavioural science from the John Hopkins University in the United States, was made effective from April 20.
According to a press release from the JNA, Hamilton will take up the tasks of implementing the association's strategic plan and the management of its overall operations with a view to maintaining professionalism within the administration of the sport.
Hamilton will replace Rosemarie Charlton who left the position to take care of a recurring illness a year ago.
Charlton has decided to go back to Canada where treatment for her ailment is more readily available.
According to Charlton, Hamilton is a professional and will be able to perform the duties required of her without much problem.
"I met her last week very briefly and she looks as if she will do a very good job for the association," said Charlton.
"While I am here I have offered my services in a voluntary way. I want to be able to help in any capacity that I can," said Charlton, who will leave the island at the end of July.
