ONE OF six policemen who the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Kent Pantry, Q.C., ruled should be charged criminally for separate offences, was offered bail on Tuesday in the sum of $200,000 when he appeared in the Port Antonio Resident Magistrate's Court.
According to Acting Assistant Commissioner Granville Gause, the other five policemen who are to be charged, will appear in court today .
At Tuesday's court sitting, the accused policeman, Constable Ewan Donaldson, who is attached to the Port Antonio Police Station in Portland, was charged with robbery with aggravation and shooting with intent. He is to return to court on May 25.
NO-SHOW
Reports are that a 32 year-old civilian who the DPP ruled should also be charged, did not show up in court yesterday. Both men were charged following investigations into the alleged theft of $350,000 from a businessman on March 29, 2005. The incident took place along Long Road in Portland. It is alleged that the businessman was held up at gun point.
Following an investigation into the matter, the civilian and the constable were later iden-tified and charged with robbery with aggravation, shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm.
