Naggo Head won 1-0.- ANTHONY MINOTT/FREELANCE PHOTOGRAPHERTHE JFF'S National Premier League play-offs begin on Wednesday, May 17, and it will be first-timers Naggo Head who will have the task of carrying South Central Confed's bid for one of the two spots available.
Naggo Head will join other first-timers Negril FC (Western Confed) and August Town (KSAFA) as well as St George's from the East, who competed in the Premier League in the 1980s but last tasted action at the national level through the now defunct National A League.
The St.Catherine-based team earned that right after a hard fought 1-0 win over parish mates Arlington in the South Central Confed final last weekend at Prison Oval. After enduring a 0-0 first leg which they hosted, Fabian Sines' 55th minute goal gave them the title in their first year of Confed competition.
Arlington, the 2004 champions who were relegated from the National Premier League, were favoured to win having beaten Naggo Head 1-0 in preliminary round action.
Naggo Head showed their potential when they toppled defending champions Los Perfectos of Manchester 2-0 in the second leg of the semi-finals played at Brooks Park.
The team is coached by Harold Thomas, who formerly coached Rivoli, and also had a stint as head coach at Waterhouse.
