Pensioners and income tax

THE EDITOR, Sir:I AM a bit puzzled about statements concerning pensioners and income tax. My monthly pension as a retired teacher well over the age of 65 is $21,513.64. Of this, income tax deducted is $2,295.08 every month. This pension is the result of the new increase. I retired in 1980 when salaries were far below what they are the present.
Is the Accountant-General's Department aware of this legislation and why should we go to the Income Tax Department to reclaim what should never have been deducted in the first place?
I wish someone from the Accountant-General's Dept. would take the time to explain this.
I am, etc.,
