YOUNG FABIAN Campbell continued his fine form from the recent Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships (CAGC) trials with a comfortable victory at the Appleton Classic VX tournament at Constant Spring on the weekend. Campbell carded rounds of one-under 71 and five-over 77 for a gross of 148 and a five-stroke triumph over Carl Bruce (75-78-153) in the men's section.

In April, at the Cinnamon Hill course at Rose Hall, Campbell emerged as the top men's qualifier for the prestigious Hoerman Cup team at the 50th CAGC event, which will be hosted at the north-coast venue in August.

Bruce did his chances of making the Hoerman Cup team no harm with his efforts at the city course over the weekend, although he could also be in the running for a berth on the Ramon Baez Figueroa over-35 two-man team at the CAGC.

Sean Morris (82-77-159) finished third at the Classic followed by Xavier Rose (85-76-161) and Damian Spencer (80-81-161).

The women's section went to form with Jodi Barrow (70-73-143) holding off Maggie Lyn (72-76-148) by five strokes. Both are assured of making the women's team at the CAGC. Third gross went to Michiko Asonuma (77-80-157).

Dave Lyn (79-78-157) won a tight men's seniors classification by a mere stroke from Fred Sutherland (79-79-158) and George Hugh (73-85-158).

Dennis Atkinson (75-78-153) won the super seniors by two strokes over Jamaica Golf Association president Gordon Hutchinson (77-78-155), with Lloyd Grey (82-79-161) coming in third.
