GARY 'THE Colonel' Gregg took command in his WRC Ford Focus racing car to steal the spotlight at the recently-held JMMC Sprint number three race meet, which took place at the Vernamfield drag strip in Clarendon.
The 43-year-old Kingston businessman not only won the overall event, but also the highly competitive JA 8 Class, beating Peter Moodie Jr. and his Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 6 into second place. Third place went to Jeffery Panton, who won Sprint number two last month.
Gregg, who was racing for the first time since the start of the year, easily managed the course, sliding the car around a few times, throughout the three-lap championship run.
The fastest rear wheel drive car was driven by Jeremy Groves and the fastest front wheel drive by Ferdinand Anderson.
GOOD PERFORMANCES
Tedroy 'Teddy' Burton, who has made a name for himself at the Dover Raceway, won the exciting JC1 class for open class cars, this time in his new turbo charged Murray's Auto Develop-ments Honda Civic car.
"The car is really running good and I did enjoy myself," a smiling Burton told The Gleaner.
Another good performance came from Tariq Minott in his Toyota Starlet. He is preparing for the upcoming Barbados Rally. Second in that class was Raj Jadusingh, while third went to Andrew Forsythe in a Honda CRX.
The JA3 class was won by Bobby Marshall ahead of Pernell Fitz-Coy in a Toyota Starlet and third to Ferdinand Anderson.
"The standard of driving and the preparation of the cars was excellent. This is no joke, the cars are running. I was impressed with Tariq Minott, Peter "PJ" Moodie Jr. and Burton," said Errol Anderson, president of the Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club.
