IT'S THAT time of the season again, my dears, when we say champagne wishes and caviar toasts come the 28 of this month as former Prime Minister and Opposition Leader, Hon. Edward Seaga, his son Christopher, and Finance Minister, Dr. Omar Davies, will be celebrating their birthdays., on this very special day.

Now, Tuesday will be Labour Day, but for Jamaican-born actor and award winning writer, Phillip Michael Edwards, it will be a celebration of his birthday over there in LA, as he works on his next film/writing venture.

On the 25th, charming Diane Frankson, will celebrate her special day, and the word is it promises to be a blast! And tomorrow will see Californian resident and long-time multi-repeat visitor to the island, the charmingly lovely Bea Caldwell, celebrating her special day. Fab wishes all around dears, and nothing but.

And, the venerable Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Iceland, Robert MacMillan, is back from a rather successful five-day official visit to Iceland where he not only attended the sixth annual consular conference in Reykjavik, but also presented his credentials to the President of Iceland, who received each consul individually, and thanked them for their service in honour of his country. Later, they were hosted at a state banquet.

UPTOWN CELEBRATIONS

My dears, destination Jamaica was cooking last week and then some! Honeys, we are talking fabulousness here and nothing but as the rich and the famous, the fab and the chic, and the stylish, were all dishing hotness like it was the new 'uptown bling', you know, as in the latest fad! Me daahlings, whatever the reason, it made for one absolutely happening weekend with one sensationally fabulous twist!

Now the twist is one continuing saga, so you will have to continue tuning in to these pages for the inside story, however, suffice it to say that now that the weekend is over and the reviews are in, there are two very topics emerging from the weekend.

First, about the scion of the well-to-do who has fallen from grace in recent weeks, and the other is all about the multimillion-dollar extravaganza that the noted Kingston merchant threw to announce his daughter's engagement.

Pumpkins, there's also talk of a number of Hollywood scouts jetting in on their private Learjet last week for a bit of scouting, as there's much talk about another deal in the making to film another movie on location in Jamaica, with the North Coast being the preferred backdrop for this venture.

And, luvs, quite a venture it promises to be as well as one of the names being bandied about for the leading role, is currently one of Hollywood's hottest and highest paid stars, so wait for it!

Luvs, we are taking red-hot stuff here, so much so that people are still talking and the word is, it was all, so very mmm, good!

Anyway, more anon, as aam-a-telling-y'all, it's going to be one mighty interesting summer.

And speaking of summer, luvs, its now only weeks away, but the Pulse founded and sponsored annual Caribbean Fashion Week (CFW) is promising to dish out a fabulous package of high-fashion and glamorous parties for its 2006 season, that promises to eclipse all others my dears, and then some!

My daahlings, its being dubbed, 'Come For The Fashion, Come For The Party' and why not, after all, as Pulse founder and chairman, the debonair Kingsley Cooper and his team are promising a much bigger and better CFW for this its sixth staging, and more after parties to round off each hectic day.

We are talking more parties here, and then some, as the after-party parties have now been extended to include, the charming and history rich Morgan's Harbour Hotel in Port Royal; the Pulse Fashion Centre on Trafalgar Road in New Kingston and Villa Ronai in salubrious Old Stony Hill. Then, there will be the glitz, glamour expected at the Gee-Jam Mansion, for the international media (and friends) party, in the Millsborough neighbourhood of St. Andrew.

And so it is my dears, that not only are the chic here queuing for tickets/passes for the after-party-dos but the international crowd will not be left behind and already calls are coming in from the fashion centres of the world and the fashionable everywhere who have already scheduled their international calendar to include Jamaica's CFW from June 7-11 with a spectacular opening night planned for June 8.

And honeys, with the collections to be presented by Pulse's hottest models, including world sensations and supermodels including Jaunel,

Carla, Oraine, Nadine, Kimanee, Nell, Sunna, Rochelle, Jeneil, Khalil, Nikki, Cindy and Ghinelle - plus a number of visiting hot runway kings and queens from around the globe, y'all know, we are talking a Summer sizzler here!

Then, add to this milieu of hotness, Kingston's 'hottest' male designer, since Waldash of the '80s, the absolutely and fashionably hot Bill Edwards, and y'all know, we are talking head-turning couture here!

And if y'all missed last year's showings by: Biggy, Mutamba, Meiling, The Cloth, Claudia Pegus, Moncrieffe, Ryki de Jude, Atelier Dore, Yardmanstyle, Cooyah, Wright Style, Zero Gravity, Lubica, and Brown Sugar, then honeys, the National Indoor Sports Centre will be the fashion centre of the world June 7-11 and dears, hotness never promised to look sooo good!

Honeys, thing fabulous fashion! Think the toast of the modelling world! Think the young, hot and fab all strutting their stuff in the hot off-stage action that makes these events steam, and y'all know there no way, this here scribe will be missing CFW 2006 right here in this fabulous metropolis.

And continuing to speak of hot things and fabulous people! My dears, congratulations are definitely in order and are extended to the ever so charming Gloria Palomino, on being named "Woman of Excellence 2006", by the Alpha Alumni. And with the installation ceremony slated for the chic Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel, over there in New Kingston, for June 2, y'all know that this toast to this outstanding Jamaican business-woman and philanthropist, will be a standing-room only affair!

Then my daahlings, the US Embassy here, is expecting a new Deputy Chief of Mission as, the tour of duty of Cliff The and his fabulous Spanish wife, Dr. Louisa The, has come to and end, with the Tighes, leaving this week, for their new assignment in politically troubled Haiti.

Indeed, the Tighes did make for a charming couple, but unlike their predecessors, Richard and Janice Smyth, the Tighes were much less of a presence on the social circuit, restricting their appearances to primarily official receptions and or events.

Also taking leave of our shores this season is the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Spanish embassy here, as indeed, DCM Jaume Segura i Socias and his lovely wife Leonor, will return to Spain in mid July, to await their next posting.

It will be sad to see this rather charming couple go as DCM i Socias served here during a critical time here which saw a massive infusion of Spanish investment here in Jamaica, particularly in the tourism sector; while being actively involved socially at all levels.

It's still early yet, but the time is fast approaching when we must wish DCM Jaume Segura I Socias, and his family a very warm goodbye.
