St Andrew run away with Blue Cross Champs

Tashana Willaims won in 26.64 ahead of Tashekia Williams 26.75.

ST. ANDREW retained the Blue Cross National Primary, All-Age and Junior High Schools Athletics Championships, which ended at the National Stadium yesterday.

At the end of the two-day championships, St. Andrew topped the combined sections with 301.5 points, finishing head of St. Elizabeth 254, Manchester 253, St. Ann 159.5, St. Catherine 155.5, St. Mary 151, Portland 127, St. James 125, Trelawny 123, Clarendon 109.5, Kingston 102, St. Thomas 77, Westmoreland 69 and Hanover 42.

St. Andrew also ran away with the boys and girls sections. They won the girls' section with 152 ahead of St. Elizabeth (141) and Manchester (111), while they topped the boys' section with 149.5 points over Manchester (142) and St. Elizabeth (113).

St. Andrew's Olivia James won the girls' Under-13 200m in 26,92 seconds and the 400m in 1:01.88. Brandon Tomlinson was also a double champion, winning the boys' Under-17 200m in 23.32 and the 100m in 11.49.

Clayon Daley of Manchester took the boys' Under-15 200m in 23.90, while Seidathe Palmer of St. James (27.09) beat Sedia Williams of Manchester (27.38) for the girls' Under-15 200m title.

In the girls' Under-17 200m, Tashana Williams of Kingston (26.64) beat Tashekia Williams of Portland (26.75).

The Under-13 girls from Clarendon ran 51.20 for a new record in the 4x100m event.
