JAMAICA'S COMMONWEALTH Games representa-tives Andrew Gutzmore and Areita Martin will depart the island over the next two days for the Tobago International Half Marathon in the twin island republic.
National representative Wainard Talbert, whose trip is being sponsored by Life of Jamaica (LoJ) and master Nigel Cohagen will join the two on the trip.
Martin and Cohagen will depart tomorrow on BWIA while Talbert is set to leave on Air Jamaica, on the same day. Gutzmore will depart on Friday.
Martin, the defending female champion will be making her second trip to the meet. Martin won last year's race in one hour, 29 minutes. The race is set for Sunday.
The Jamaicans are down to face other top Caribbean runners including Pamenos Ballentine of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Gutzmore said they are ready for the challenge.
"We are training, but not getting the (financial) support. When we go to these meets to help to keep the athletes going.
He continued: "We are trying to get prepared for the CAC Games".
The winning men's time last year was one hour and .06 seconds. Asked if the men were in condition to run that fast, Gutzmore replied: "We would not be leaving Jamaica if we weren't in good condition".
Gutzmore, Cohagen and Martin are set to return on Tuesday while Talbert will return the following day.
