SUNDAY NIGHT'S staging of Pulse's Caribbean Fashionweek at the National Indoor Sports Centre, featured some of the top designers in the region and the crowd was pleased with what they saw.

Over nine designers, including Jay Wilson, Kenneth Edgar, Biggy, Uzuri and Mosiah, were featured during the night.

Most were impressed with the brightly coloured gowns by Loren Tulloch; the very detailed jackets and pants, most of which had an army motif, by Mosiah and the trendy dancehall fashion by Biggy.

Even for those who aren't usually interested in African garb, the clothes by Kamit Revisited would have changed their minds.

However, although the audience was impressed with the fashion, some were not with the late start of the show and the poor taste in music.

The show, which was slated to start at 7:00 p.m. started some minutes to 9:00 p.m. and there was a 10-minute break between every collection. Then at the end of each of the three shows, there was a half hour intermission.

Finally at 11:30 p.m., some patrons started to get jittery at the thought of another half hour break for the final show, 'Rock the Runway'. Still, they had to wait for the show to start the next morning - 12:10 a.m.

The artistes who performed during this segment were Shifta and Nicki B, Jovi, Voice Mail, Busy Signal and Spragga Benz.

When Voice Mail came on stage, the crowd roared with excitement and it only increased when Busy Signal emerged. It's impossible to believe that things could have got better, but they did when Spragga Benz's voice came over the mic.

He too was a crowd favourite, but little did anyone know that Spragga had a surprise of his own. "Yuh done know say we couldn't deh yah and nuh bring the controversy," he said, and everyone's ears were now peaked. After he congratulated the organisers for putting on the show, he broke into his song: "Me say, we nuh innah dem funny guy ting, bad man nuh wear g-string..."

The crowd clamoured with excitement: some jumped, some screamed, some waved, others shouted 'bullet, bullet', while some in the VIP section only looked on in amazement. Spragga laughed and ran off stage, but he was called back for an encore.
