Yahama charts riding course
published: Thursday | June 15, 2006

Carl Spence, Gleaner Writer

YAMAHA RIDING Academy (YRA) have teamed up with Island Motors Limited to host a three-day Riding Course which seeks to give specific bike riders the opportunity to develop their bike riding skills and knowledge so they will be more responsive on Jamaican roads.

The three-day course gets under way today at the Alhambra Inn on Tucker Avenue and will take the form of a theory and practical seminar. The theory sessions will be held at the Alhambra Inn throughout the morning, while the practical will be conducted in the afternoons at the National Stadium.

The course will be coordinated under the guidance of two international guests from Yamaha's motor cycling headquarters in Japan. Instructor for the course will be Yoshiaki Kato, who will be assisted by Kazuo Maeda, both of whom are a part of the service division and marketing operations for the Yamaha Motorcycling headquarters in Japan.

Christopher Mitchell, chief operations officer for Island Motors, has extended invitations to all fleet operators, bike services, fast food delivery places and the police arm (JCF and ISCF) to participate in the course.

Mitchell says the move is part of a customer outreach initiative and pointed out that "Island Motors is not just interested in selling bikes."
