REFLEXOLOGY - The metamorphic technique
published: Monday | June 19, 2006

Shirley Reeson, Contributor

This is the fourth article in the series of complementary medicine and fousses on another holistic therapy developed from Reflexology.

THE METAMORPHIC TECHNIQUE was discovered by Robert St. John, a reflexologist and naturopath while practising it in the 1960s. He discovered something which was quite revolutionary - the area of the foot which represents the spine in reflexology, also corresponded to the nine months of gestation in the womb. This discovery meant that whereas in reflexology the stresses and tensions of the body could be released through the manipulation of the feet, energy blockages which occurred during the prenatal period could be released by working on the spinal reflex areas; hence the name Prenatal Therapy.

TRANSFORMATION

The Metamorphic Technique is a simple approach to self-healing and creative growth. As the soil and moisture for the seed, the metamorphic practitioner acts as a catalyst and the energy, the power of life within the recipient takes over and does the work of transformation, of metamorphosis, from which one is now to who one can be. We are clearing the course of the flow of the life force through the mind and body. The blockages of prenatal development clear relatively spontaneously in the process of the treatment.

COMPLAINTS HELPED

St. John related how he handled all types of illnesses and he particularly documented a case of epilepsy in a 19- year-old girl which cleared completely. A six-month-old baby with Down's Syndrome became normal after one year of treatment as the extra chromosomes had become inactive. He also noted that asthma in children and older persons could be helped. Treatment in children with learning disabilities and autism can be very effective when administered to babies or toddlers. However, St. John went on to point out that this method is a handling of the subject and not of the complaint.

If the person changes, becomes whole and is able to manage life, there is no need to complain and so they (complaints) disappear. The changes tend to be permanent and it is a change of the person as a whole, change of attitude towards life and others. It is a method that can be as effective for psychological and physical conditions. It is also a way of keeping healthy and happy. Finally, it brings the full quality of the life force into action in the body and mind.
