Insurance firm joins anti-drug bike ride
published: Friday | June 23, 2006

NEM INSURANCE Company (Ja.) Limited has pledged its support to Sandals Resorts International in the Bike Ride Against Drug Abuse (BRADA). BRADA, scheduled for June 22 to 25, ties in closely with Road Safety and the need to drive responsibly.

Research has indicated that the increasing incidence of substance abuse among the younger generation is one of the leading causes of motor vehicle accidents globally. "As a general insurance company we are only too familiar with these statistics as the increase in the number of claims annually is directly proportional to the number of road accidents, which result in injury or death," the the company said.

One of NEM's major initiatives this year is a campaign geared towards safe and responsible driving. The campaign called 'Think Before You Drive' was launched recently, spearheaded by the Jamaica Automobile Association (JAA), in collaboration with NEM Insurance, Bridgestone and the National Road Safety Council.
