EMANCIPATION PARK now boasts five rose beds, comprising eight varieties of roses of different colours, shapes and fragrances.
The rose beds were donated by Agro Grace and its overseas partners, Jackson & Perkins, one of the world's largest producers of roses. Earl Samuels, managing director of the National Housing Trust (NHT), which manages Emancipation Park, accepted the donation in a recent ceremony at the park.
Among officials attending were Deputy Mayor of Kingston, Councillor Lee Clarke; Lisa Grant, park manager; and Kevin Marshall, regional sales representative of Jackson & Perkins.
"It is not usual for green spaces in the Corporate Area to boast such a remarkable collection of roses," said Councillor Clarke. "The KSAC (Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation) and the people of the Corporate Area take note of this and are entirely indebted to the donors."
