THE TEACHERS' Services Commission, the independent body set up to vet the application of principals, met yesterday for a final review of the application of the candidate selected to be the new principal of St. George's College.
Dr. Fred Kennedy, outgoing principal of the school, said yesterday that the name of the principal would be announced as soon as Maxine Henry-Wilson, Minister of Education and Youth, approves the appointment.
News surfaced last month that parents and students at the North Street-based institution in Kingston were against the appointment of a female principal, noting that the process did not sufficiently accommodate competent males who were interested in the post.
The Gleaner understands that Margaret Campbell, head of the Mathematics Department at Ardenne High School and board member of St. George's College, is highly touted to become the new principal.
