Lions Club of Linstead takes care of the elderly
published: Saturday | July 8, 2006

Rasbert Turner, Gleaner Writer

SPANISH TOWN, St. Catherine:

TAKING CARE of the elderly is very high on the priority list of the Lions Club of Linstead. According to president Barry Amos the club will be embarking on a once per month medical care exercise for the elderly in and around Linstead.

Amos, who is the newly-installed president, said that the aim of the club is to take care of the old people as they form an integral part of the country's history.

"We will also continue our shut-in activities where several elderly persons are being given packages of grocery," he added.

Further, the president said the volunteer nature of the club will continue, and come September the Canadian Vision Care will be visiting Jamaica. He emphasised that Linstead will figure prominently on their list and several persons will be screened and aided if they need vision care.
