MARLEY
TWO OF Jamaica's top junior golfers depart the island today to represent the country in the Junior British Open in Heswell, England, from July 16-20.
Making the trip are Jamaica's top junior female player, Vittoria Marley, who will contest the Under-15 category, and Jonathan Newnham, the top golfer in the Jamaica Golf Association's 12 and under division.
Both golfers were unfortunate not to medal in the recently concluded Caribbean Junior Golf Cham-pionships in Puerto Rico as they finished sixth and fifth in their respective age group categories. They expect good results to come their way this time around with the adjustments they have made to their games.
"I think I'm going to do really well because I have improved the weaknesses in my game since the Caribbean Championships," Newnham said.
Marley, who suffered an injured finger during the Caribbean Championship, feels she is now in good condition to perform well.
"It's not that big of a problem anymore, it should not be an excuse at all because now I should be able to perform at my best," Marley said.
