THE JAMAICA Cricket Association's (JCA) annual general meeting is scheduled for this afternoon at the Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston starting at 3:00 and, based on the nominations, when it is all over there could be at least three changes to the seven-member executive.
The changes could involve first vice-president Paul Campbell, secretary Diann Campbell and treasurer Whycliffe Cameron.
Paul Campbell will be
challenged by Lucas Cricket Club's Easton McMorris - former Jamaica captain and West Indies batsman, former first vice-president of the JCA, former chairman of the Jamaica selection committee and former West Indies selector.
CHALLENGES
Diann Campbell will be challenged by Milton Henry of St. Catherine CC and Cameron by Hopeton Morrison - a lecturer at the University of the West Indies,
a member of the St. Thomas Cricket Association and secretary of the Jamaica Cricket Board's Development Committee.
There will be at least one change to the board with Paul Brown, a member from Surrey, now residing in Trinidad and Tobago and having resigned as a board member.
Today's meeting is expected to be a spirited and heated affair not only because of the challenges but also because of the number of concerns voiced by members of the board and which are expected to be raised at the meeting.
Among these concerns are the JCA's role in World Cup 2007, the attitude of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) to the JCA and the policy dealing with board members doing business with the board and the possible conflict of interest.
The current executive members are: Jackie Hendriks - president; Paul Campbell - first vice president; Danny Kiddoo - second vice-president; Diann Campbell - secretary; Whycliffe Cameron treasurer; Ian Brown - assistant secretary; Hugh Perry - assistant treasurer.
The board members are: Surrey - Linden Wright, Courtney Daley, Dudley Bryan, Ephraim McLeod, Roderick Gordon; Middlesex - Maurice Clarke, Fritz Harris, Leroy Beckford; Cornwall - Norman Jackson, Lynden James, Grantley Miller.
