Counselling centre seeks financial help
published: Thursday | July 20, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

WE ARE appealing to the Jamaican, regional and international public for assistance in purchasing land space for the Ionie Whorms Inner City Counselling Centre (IWICC).

IWICC is currently located at the Fletcher's Land Community Centre which is being refurbished to facilitate educational and social provisions for the community. An area will be sectioned into cubicles to accommodate IWICC and the - Organisations CBO's which are under the umbrella of the Fletcher's Land Management Benevolent Society (FLMBS), An office will also be designed for confidential services which IWICC will also have access to.

POSITIVE CHANGE

IWICC acknowledges the positive change which will benefit the people of Fletcher's Land and its environs and also appreciates the space which will be shared with the hard-working CBO's but, unfortunately, the designated area will not be able to accommodate all the services of IWICC.

Therefore, we are appealing to all sectors to assist us in purchasing this land, as your contribution will enable us to make a greater difference and to build our capacity for expansion of our services.

IWICC has commitments from founders, who are willing to construct the building, once we have proof of ownership. The owner of the land has reduced the cost from two million dollars to 1.5 million dollars as part of her contribution to us. IWICC needs to make a downpayment of at least $250,000 so as to bond the deal.

We sincerely hope that you will be able to help us with this very worthwhile effort.

I am, etc.,

IONIE WHORMS

155 Church Street

Kingston
