Future bright for Central Kingston
published: Thursday | August 10, 2006

Carl Spence, Gleaner Writer

CENTRAL KINGSTON increased their chances of progressing to the second round of both Kingston and St. Andrew Football Association's (KSAFA) Under-13 and Under-17 leagues with wins over Brown's Town at Emmet Park on Tuesday.

Following a 1-0 win by Central's Under-13s in the first match of the doubleheader, the Under-17 team showed their class against 10-man Brown's Town, by recording a 5-0 lead by the end of the first half before the match was forced to end by Brown's Town officials. Starting the game with 10 players, Brown's Town conceded the first goal in the sixth minute when an unmarked Jyvanni Hayles headed home from a corner inside the six-yard box.

A one-sided affair

The game then became a one-sided affair with Central Kingston scoring at will against what seemed a lifeless Brown's Town unit. Hayles scored his second in the 10th minute and was supported by goalkeeper Jovell Plunkett who converted a penalty in the 21st, with Joel Nicholas scoring in the 24th and Ricardo Whitter in the 32nd minute making the score 5-0 going into the break. At the end of the half-time break, the Brown's Town players forfeited the game by refusing to return to the field.

The win pushes Central's Under-17s to fourth place with three points from two games in the six-team Zone A behind leaders Bully Bay on six points, followed by Port Royal (five), Harbour View (four), Santos (three) and Brown's Town (one) trail.

Central's Under-13s sit comfortably in third with six points from three games behind group leaders Santos (eight) and Rae Town (seven).
