Jehovah's Witnesses' convention to begin
published: Thursday | August 17, 2006

This year's Jehovah's Witnesses' District Convention will begin tomorrow at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston under the theme, 'Deliverance At Hand.'

The first convention, which starts at 9:30 a.m. each day, will end on Sunday.

The programme will emphasise that mankind needs deliverance from the effects of inherited sin and its consequence, death. Talks and symposiums will emphasise comforting scriptures that detail God's loving provision for everlasting deliverance made possible by the sacrifice of his Son, Jesus Christ.

"Witnesses believe that current events fulfil Bible prophecies indicating that God's day of reckoning is fast approaching. The need for deliverance will be explored as well, infusing the programme with a tone of urgency," the church said in a press statement.

The second convention will run from August 25 to 27.
