Trading on the stock exchange was mixed for the first two days with losers dominating trading, as the market edged closer to two and a half year lows.
The market hit 80,009 points in February 2004.
All three indices declined on Monday with the main JSE Index shedding 0.22 per cent, or 183.27 points to close at 81,464.73, while the Jamaican Composite index declined by 371.37 points or 0.47 per cent to close at 77,323.09 points.
Index decling
The Jamaica Select Index declined by 10.55 points, or (0.49 per cent to close at 2,129.94 points.
In yesterday's trading, the two main indices continued to lose ground with the broad JSE index declining by 75.52 points, 0.09 per cent, to close at 81,389.20 points while the while All-Jamaican lost 0.19 per cent of its value, or 153.04 points to close the trading day at 77,170.05 points.
Only the Jamaica Select Index advanced, gaining 1.93 points, or 0.09 per cent, to close at 2,131.88 points. Some 17 million units with a total value of $73 million crossed the trading floor over the past two days.
Since the start of the week, two companies have traded at their all-time low: The Gleaner at $1.68 on Monday and Supreme Ventures at $1.71 yesterday.
