Any help for young minds?
published: Saturday | August 26, 2006

The Editor, Sir:

After all this time suffering and tightening the belt, election is almost here again. There are thousands of young men and women leaving high schools all over Jamaica. However, I am waiting patiently to hear what plans both Government and Opposition have or are putting in place for all these promising, young minds whose parents cannot afford to send them any further to higher institutions.

From as far back as 17 years ago, there were no plans for the majority who leave school and are just on the loose with good thoughts and positive ideas to help lift and take our country forward. People in high positions just ignore the fact that these people exist. Some of us migrate and are now living like fugitives in other countries, ducking immigration, and the ones who manage to find jobs to do are doing jobs they would not do back home. I am speaking from experience.

What is going to be done to help the vulnerable and when?

I am, etc.,
