Corian for the kitchen and ...
published: Sunday | August 27, 2006

The kitchen is warm and welcoming. - Winston Sill/Freelance Photographer

Does the word corian make you think of cooking areas in the kitchen?

Corian is being used by an increasing number of designers for other functional areas apart from the kitchen, as well as for lighting and interiors. Made of natural minerals and high-performance acrylic polymers, corian is also highly durable and easy to maintain.

For designers, the versatility of the product is attractive. It can be cut, routed, sandblasted, inlaid, moulded or thermoformed to create virtually any conceivable shape. Corian is said to be available in over 100 colours, including whites, pastels, veined and textured colours and solid bright hues, and goes well with a variety of other materials such as wood, glass and stainless steel.

Interior decorators, designers and others in the trade all agree that you will find the product today in any area of the home where durability and beauty are needed.
