Robbers killed in gunfight
published: Wednesday | August 30, 2006

Glenroy Sinclair, Staff Reporter

Forensic experts yesterday began examining the sports utility vehicle (SUV) in which four alleged gunmen were killed by the police during a shoot-out in downtown Kingston, Monday night.

"The ballistics experts will be taking a closer look at the interior of the vehicle," head of the Bureau of Special Investigation (BSI), Acting Assistant Commissioner Granville Gause, told The Gleaner yesterday.

The deceased have been identified as Ricardo Wilson, Jason Gillespie, alias 'Jason Show'; and 'Kirkie', all of a Wilton Gardens (Rema) address in south St. Andrew. The fourth man has been identified only as 'Richie' or 'Blacks' of a Harbour View address in St. Andrew.

"Our concern is to find out the circumstances under which these men were killed. The guns of the policemen who were involved in the shooting will be taken out of circulation and examined," said ACP Gause.

Allegations are that the four men went on a robbery spree, starting from Daisy Avenue in Mona Heights, where they held up a university lecturer and took away her SUV. The men proceeded to Harbour View where they staged another robbery at the Chester Fried Chicken fast food outlet in the community.
