Kimone Phipps
Phipps - 'I always strive for excellence'
Seventeen-year-old Kimone Phipps of St. Mary High School is a hard act to follow, having gained 10 passes - eight ones and two twos - in the 2006 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate examinations.
Kimone said she was allowed to sit eight subjects at her school and went to evening classes to do the other two.
"I was overwhelmed, but I was kind of expecting it because I always strive for excellence," she told The Gleaner yesterday of her reaction when she got her results.
Daughter of Bevan and Nigel Phipps, Kimone attributes her success to her parents and her peers whom, she said, she always
competed with.
"I always read a lot and when I am at home, I do not waste time," she said.
Kimone enjoys surfing the Internet and watching television in her spare time. While at lower school she was involved in debating and was a member of the Key and Schools Challenge Quiz clubs.
A computer engineer or medical doctor in the making, Kimone will return to St. Mary High School where she will pursue the sciences at the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations level.
She got ones in principles of accounts, social studies, mathematics, English language, English literature, information technology, human and social biology and physics. She got twos for biology and chemistry.
