SPANISH TOWN, St. Catherine:
A 17-year-old boy was killed and four others injured by gunmen during a shooting in Portmore, St. Catherine, late Wednesday night.
St. Catherine South police are investigating the murder of Dwayne Pearson of Greater Portmore, and the injury of the other four.
According to reports, about 10:30 p.m., the five victims were standing at the corner of Augustus Drive near Independence City and Westchester, when six men came from nearby bushes and proceeded to fire shots, hitting them all.
Pearson was hit several times all over the body and died on the spot.
The other four were treated at the Spanish Town Hospital and released.
Ongoing feud
Caymanas police yesterday linked the shooting to an ongoing feud between men from Rat Town, near Augustus Drive, and men in the Augustus Drive area.
In recent weeks, there have been a number of shootings and robberies in the St. Catherine South division. To date, the police have recovered more than 42 illegal guns in St. Catherine South, most of which were seized in Portmore and two more than the corresponding period last year.
