KSAFA BUSINESS House Knockout champions The Gleaner dried up league champion's National Water Commission's (NWC) chances of a corporate double by blanking them 3-0 in the KSAFA Champions Cup final at the Old Men's Hockey Field on Tuesday.
The win not only saw The Gleaner lift their second title of the season but secure revenge against a NWC team which had beaten them by the same scoreline in the league final.
Defender Dwayne Thompson, who was not in the starting line-up the last time the teams met, got things under way for The Gleaner in spectacular fashion in the 22nd minute.
Thompson picked up a clearance dribbled towards goal and then rocketed a shot past NWC custodian Leroy Gray from about 30 yards out.
Clint Reid's tap-in effort from a Jason Brown cross doubled their lead in the 40th minute. Sean Fraser then finished things off with his second goal of the season when he latched on to a poor clearance to blast past Gray in the 82nd minute.
The Gleaner will now face St. Ann Bauxite on September 23 in Discovery Bay. The winner of that game will collect the Champion of Champions Trophy, the all-island title.
