Wolmer's, Bridgeport in Group F clash
published: Monday | September 18, 2006

Kwesi Mugisa, Staff Reporter

Unbeaten Wolmer's will play host to red-hot Bridgeport in an appetising top of the table Group F clash in the ISSA/ Pepsi/JN Manning Cup today at Heroes Circle.

In what is expected to be a three-team race for progression from the group, among Wolmer's, Bridge-port and traditional North Street powerhouse team Kingston College, all former champions, there is no room for error. Good results even in early fixtures could go a long way in deciding who go on to the next round a fact which headed into today's game will not be lost on either team.

Both Wolmer's and Bridgeport are off to sizzling starts, Wolmer's with a 4-0 win against Pembrooke Hall and a 3-0 win against Ardenne and Brideport with a 6-1 thrashing of Ardenne in their opening fixture. Wolmer's currently lead the table with six points, but have played one game more than Bridgeport who are on three points, as they have had one fixture less to play following the withdrawal of Haile Selassie.

In today's other group F game Kingston College will look for their first win of the season when they travel to Ardenne. The North street men will hope to recover from a shaky start following a 0-0 draw with Pembrooke Hall on Saturday.

Over in Group B Edith Dalton James and last year's semi-finalists Norman Manley will look to keep pace with group leaders Spanish Town when they travel to St Jago and Donald Quarrie.
