ST LUCIA: Outrage over 20-y-o's shooting
published: Tuesday | September 19, 2006

CASTRIES, St. Lucia (CMC):

Social Security Minister Calixte George yesterday met with senior police officers in an attempt to quell the public outrage sparked by the weekend shooting death of a 20-year-old youth.

Troy Jr. Jacque of Ciceron, south of Castries, was shot and killed by a police officer in plain clothes in full view of the public.

Angry residents told local television that if the matter was not properly investigated they would resort to civil unrest. Some claimed that the killing was unprovoked.
