Festival scaled down
published: Wednesday | September 20, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I have been a festival person, have always been, and will always be a supporter. Maybe the feeling of nostalgia goes back to the days of my involvement in festival activities for primary school. I like the vibes that it creates, and whether we believe it or not, there are many of us here and across the diaspora who look forward to 'Festival Time', the dances, the songs and all the other activities go to make the season one of cultural awareness.

Festival song

Somehow, it seems to me that over the years, the activities are being scaled down, to the point where this year, we never even heard a festival song. I don't know if I am right, in saying so, or did this important cultural item escape my attention?

Last year, I wrote about the awe-inspiring and energising rendition of Tour Guide, and Pennicilin. This made me look forward with even greater enthusiasm to something even surpassing the excellence of Tour Guide. Alas! to my dismay and disbelief I heard nothing.

We all enjoy the festival songs and other relevant activities. Please don't let them die, or we will cry.

I am, etc.,

PATRICIA POWELL

Southfield
