Mandeville Examination Depot
published: Thursday | September 21, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The Mandeville Motor Vehicle Examination Depot, once the pride and joy of the people of Mandeville, has now become an eyesore in the town.

This depot, built some years ago through the instrumentality of the late Honourable Winston Jones, has been allowed to deteriorate steadily to the extent where some portions of the roof appear to be falling apart. It was once known to be the most modern and equipped examination depot in this country.

Hurricane damage

During the passage of Hurricane Ivan in 2004, a section of the roof was badly damaged and it remains in that position as a hazard to staff and customers. The interior of the building needs a coat of paint and the security perimeter fence is falling.

The courteous, hardworking and dedicated staff ought to be commended for working in a building which seems to be falling apart, due to the lack of proper maintenance.

I am, etc.,

ANDREW A. MCCREATH

Perth Road

Mandeville
