Go ahead - for a clean country
published: Sunday | October 1, 2006

The Editor, Sir:

It amazes me that so many Jamaicans living overseas are fussing themselves about the beautification programme that the Prime Minister announces for Jamaica.

Some are calling it pork barrel politics, some are calling it political handouts. So what! There are several people in Jamaica right now that will benefit from this small programme, let them get the benefits.

I would like all those people who have a better plan to go ahead and tell the Government what can be done to alleviate some of the conditions in Jamaica. Let them also tell the Government how to clean up the country for the upcoming World Cup cricket competition.

Go ahead, Madam Prime Minister. Do whatever you can to rid Jamaica of dirt. A clean country will hopefully bring clean minds.

I am, etc.,

STEVE DOUGLAS
