Glenmuir on target
published: Saturday | October 7, 2006

Adrian Frater, News Editor

Western Bureau:

Former champions Glenmuir High School could join the early qualifiers for the inter-zone round of the 2006 ISSA/Pepsi/JN daCosta Cup this afternoon if they are able to improve on their first round 2-2 draw over second place Garvey Maceo in their top-of-the-table Zone I clash.

Victory for Glenmuir, which remain unbeaten after seven games - six wins and a draw, would lift them to 22 points and into the safety of the inter-zone. However, a defeat would keep them on the waiting list, while improving Garvey Maceo's (14) chance of taking top honours and the group's lone Ben Francis Knockout place.

Other matches

In other key match-ups today, a battle royale is anticipated in the Zone A Montego Bay derby between second place Herbert Morrison (8) and third place Cornwall College (7) as with group leader William Knibb (13) looking a safe bet for one of the group's two inter-zone places, both teams appear to be battling for the same slot.

Another pitch battle is anticipated in Zone B where Frome Technical (18), which have already qualified for the inter-zone, will battle second place Rusea's (10), who are fighting to keep third place Anchovy (7) at bay.

With Anchovy looking a safe bet to beat bottom place Knockalva (1) in their game, a defeat for Rusea's could see the Anchovy team catching them.
