Great loss to the Government
published: Friday | October 13, 2006

The Editor, Sir:

The resignation of Colin Campbell as Minister of Infor-mation and Development is most unfortunate and a massive loss to the Government and people of this country, bearing in mind that he was one of the most talented, brilliant and professional cabinet ministers within the Portia Simpson Miller-led regime. From all the reports which have been published in this newspaper and others, absolutely no act of corruption was attributed to Senator Campbell. He has not done anything contrary to law and should not have been asked to resign. No way.

He is hard-working

Only when a cabinet minister is being prosecuted for a criminal offence or has broken the law should he resign. Senator Campbell has always been a PNP politician of the highest integrity and continues to be a very hard-working, committed and devoted government senator who has served his country with distinction.

When the PNP government shall have won the next general elections I expect to see Mr. Campbell being appointed to the PNP cabinet of Portia Simpson Miller some time next year.

I am, etc.,

RICHARD TOMLINSON
