(The Nation):
As Barbados nears its 40th year of Independence, Prime Minister Owen Arthur has called on its citizens to refresh, regenerate and renew their commitment.
He said that unlike powerful nations, Barbados did not suffer from doubt or ambiguity in terms of faith and religion. He attributed this to the Constitution which he said was founded on acknowledging the supremacy of God.
The Prime Minister made the comments at a thanksgiving service of the 40th anniversary of the Caribbean Evangelistic Fellowship (CEF) Miracle Centre at the Nazarene Tabernacle, Eagle Hall, St. Michael, on Sunday. It had as its theme, 'Forty Years And Crossing Over.'
"Upon these values, Barbados has become a good and just society. It has kept us safe under new challenges," Arthur said, adding that he was trying to unite the Caribbean from an economic developmental standpoint.
