HUNGARY - Police battle protesters
BUDAPEST (Reuters): Hungarian police fired tear gas and rubber bullets at thousands of anti-government protesters yesterday, marring commemorations of the 50th anniversary of the country's 1956 uprising against Soviet rule.

LONDON (Reuters): Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Barham Salih warned against defeatism and panic yesterday as his U.S. and British allies came under growing pressure to change their Iraq strategy in the face of relentless bloodshed.
