Welsh retrial date set for November
published: Saturday | October 28, 2006

People's National Party activist, 59-year-old Milton 'Tony' Welsh who is facing a second trial for the murder of 22-year-old Damion Hussey, of Golden Spring, St. Andrew, is to return to the Home Circuit Court on November 24.

Defence lawyers K.D. Knight, Q.C. , and Norman Linton, Q.C., had asked for Welsh to be brought to court yesterday so they could make an application for bail.

Welsh was taken to court late yesterday and Miss Linton who was present did not make the application. It is expected that when he returns to court, the application will be made and a trial date set.

Retrial ordered

Welsh was tried this month for Hussey's murder, but the jury failed on Tuesday to arrive at a unanimous verdict and a retrial was ordered.

Hussey was fatally stabbed on January 15 in his yard at Golden Spring.
