It's a woman's world all right!
published: Monday | October 30, 2006

Daviot Kelly, Staff Reporter

Daviot Kelly.

I was watching the recent parish finals of the Gleaner's Spelling Bee for the past two weeks. Of the 14 parishes, 10 girls will be the representatives. And of those 10, five of them were winning for the second time and one, for a third! That means they're the best there is in that parish more than once! All this just reminded me of something we all don't realise: It's a woman's world.

What? you might say. How did I come to this conclusion? First, forget about the 'glass ceiling' talk. Forget about the increasing number of female presidents and prime ministers. Even forget about the tertiary-level graduate ratio of men to women. This is Kelly's World rationale we're about to use.

Eve of my own

From the moment Adam took the bite of the apple, the world belonged to women! Now while I understand Adam's predicament (I'm looking for an Eve of my own at the moment), he sold out menfolk! No matter how powerful a man might become, if nothing else will bring him down, it's a woman! Speaking of 'going down,' Bill Clinton nearly lost his job because of a little bit of Monica and he was only the President of the United States!

Throughout history, women have either caused the rise of great civilisations or have caused them to crash. Cleopatra for instance is one of history's most revered

So ladies, stop crying about inequality, lack of opportunity and no rights. This is your world and if you wanted, you could wreck it or make it stronger.
