Wine & cheese, Latino style
published: Friday | November 3, 2006

The lovable ladies from the Latin American's Women's Group hosted a pulsating wine and cheese party in Cherry Gardens last Friday.

Various cheeses were served with wine, such as the famous Angaro and Carta Vieja brands, plus some good old Red Stripe if you're not a wine lover. Toss in a selection of biscuits and crackers, marlin, and juicy slices of pork and this was one fine meal! Of course, there were also foods with a Hispanic taste to it, including nachos and guacamole.

But even though it was a wine and cheese party, this was also the time for Halloween. So why not combine the two? Sure enough, some guests got out their witch hats, pirate scarves, togas and even butterfly wings! The costume of the night was sported by FLOW Communi-cations' Doug Northover, who was looking groovy in his Austin Powers outfit!

With Latin rhythms playing, a dancefest was always potentially going to break out. Soon enough, it did, guests congregating by the poolside, clapping and chanting along to their favourite sounds. Eventually, couples broke off into their own little personal fiesta.

The proceeds from the party will go towards the group's various charities, including Missionaries of the Poor and SOS Children's Village. Guests included Clelia Barreto de Hunter; Juan Carlos Espinola; Cecelia Francis; Horace and Josephine Bogues; and Rose Wehrli.
