A scene from Movements' Season of Dance.
It seems as if this weekend will be as gloomy as the last, with intermittent showers across the island. Instead of visiting a resort or travelling to a recreational area, why not support the events happening this weekend.
Family Time has combined a few events which you and your loved ones may attend. Have fun and bond well.
Movements Dance Company
Get 'Into The Light' by being scintillated and captivated with majestic dance moves at Movements Dance Company of Jamaica Concert 2006.
The 25th season danced off last Thursday and goes on until tomorrow at the Little Theatre, Tom Redcam Avenue, in St. Andrew. The show begins at 8:00 p.m. today and 6:00 p.m. tomorrow. Tickets, $700
Orchid Fiesta
Today and tomorrow the Manchester Horticultural Society Show Grounds on Ward Avenue in Mandeville will be bright and beautiful with orchids. 'Orchid Fiesta' is being staged by the Manchester Orchid Chapter commencing at 1:00 p.m., today. On Sunday, the fiesta blooms at 8:00 a.m. and falls at 5:00 p.m.
Children, especially agricultural students, may visit the horticultural displays and the educational booths. For parents who are orchid lovers there will be a plant plaza with items for sale. Admission is $300 for adults and children under 12 years enter free.
Frolic in Port Royal
The Social Development Commission and the Port Royal Development Area Committee invite all to Port Royal on Sunday.
What's happening is the launch of Community Month. It might be a fun-filled day for families. Noting that Port Royal is embedded with history, it also holds a few of the best restaurants to dine at for fish dishes. So with the area filled with persons taking in the function the ambience is expected to be merry.
Take your children over to the children's village and have them exercise their muscles on the various rides that will be available.
Several sporting events will start off at 9:00 a.m., such as six-a-side football, beach volleyball, netball and a 20/20
cricket match. Various institutions and communities throughout Jamaica will have mounted displays and booths. Admission is free.
