Contractor General Greg Christie will be special guest of the Press Association of Jamaica (PAJ) at its inaugural Editors' Roundtable breakfast on Tuesday. This headlines a list of events being held this month and leading up to Journalism Week, which is usually observed during the first week of December. The events are aimed at enhancing the standard of journalism practised.

The bi-monthly Editors' Round-table, the first of which is to be held on Tuesday at the Knutsford Court Hotel in Kingston, will bring together editors of all media houses to discuss critical national issues as part of the PAJ's effort to engage civil society and make its voice heard on issues.

Below is the schedule of PAJ events:

  • November 12-18. Seminars on investigative journalism, for which dates and venue will be announced in the media.

  • November 24. Unveiling of a roll of honour to recognise 60 of the best journalists who have served the profession between 1943 and 2003 at the PAJ Headquarters, 5 East Avenue. Telecommunications firm Digicel has partnered with the PAJ to make this event possible. On that same day, the PAJ will celebrate with veteran journalist and managing director of The News, Ben Brodie, his receipt of the Musgrave Medal for Excellence in the field.

  • November 25. Seminar on how to avoid libel and defamation at venue to be announced.

  • November 27-28. Seminar on financial and business reporting at ScotiaBank Training Centre at Acadia Drive, St. Andrew. This event is sponsored by the Bank of Nova Scotia.

  • December 3. Annual church service at venue to be announced.

  • December 6. Annual Veteran's Luncheon, hosted by Wray and Nephew at it's Spanish Town Road facility.

  • December 8. Annual Journalism Awards banquet.
