Dragon Court, 6 South Avenue, Kingston 10. - Winston Sill/Freelance Photographer

Dragon Court

Location: 6 South Avenue, Kingston 10.

Hours: Daily, 11:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m.

Telephone: 920-8506

Dragon Court, one of the oldest and most favoured Chinese restaurants in Kingston, is once more pulling out all the stops for Kingston Restaurant Week 2006. The menu is set and the chefs are ready. Helen Chan and her staff will excite your palate with a variety of dishes spiced just for you.

Dragon Court, which opened at its present location in 1997, has attracted loyal customers who keep going back because their expectations have been met and exceeded.

Located in a pagoda-style building, with a commanding view of the St. Andrew hills and glimpses of the Kingston Wharfs, Dragon Court not only offers Chinese cuisine, but bits of Chinese folklore, art, décor and culture.

Thick forest green carpet provides a perfect backdrop for the tables draped in vivid red. The sound of gurgling water from two fountains in the foyer, mimics laughter and chortles a refreshing welcome. Fish swim languidly in an aquarium that runs the length of the bar. Steps lead from the foyer into the main dining area where sculptures of magnificent horses, fire breathing dragons and the magical phoenix hang from the walls overlooking the tables in bronze splendour.

Friendly staff

All those elements combine to create a very relaxing atmosphere.

Latoya Brown, senior cashier, says, in addition to the delicious food, the friendly staff ensure that customers keep coming back. She has high expectations of Kingston Restaurant Week.

"We hope to get more publicity and more customers. Customers dine to soft background music and they can also bring music of their choice, which we will play for them."
