The circus came to town and left when Starfish Trelawny celebrated its first ever Circus Week last week.
The inaugural event is the first and only of its kind in Jamaica.
In case you missed it, mark it on the calendar because this year's circus is being touted as a preview of what will follow next year. The idea is the brainchild of Stephanie Barreiro, circus director and French native, who has been living in Jamaica for eight years.
According to the resorts' public relations officer, Angela Tulloch, the circus is a permanent fixture and a show is done every Friday night with guests participating, if they are deemed competent enough during tryouts and training in the week.
"It was just awesome. Based of the feedback, it was well appreciated by our audience who visited from abroad," she said.
"The circus started in 2002 and we are the only resort that does it in the entire island."
Employees from SuperClubs, along with a few international guests, fascinated the audience with nimble and unbelievable stunts. Among the international headliners were Andrea Farf, who entertained with the lyra fabric, Michael Lamphua with straps, Allie Hart with the flying trapeze and Jennings McCamn with hand balancing.
"Training for guests take the form of a circus clinic which is held everyday. Children as young as four years old participated in the week-long activities. They do the flying trapeze, rock climbing etc.," Tulloch said.
If you are weak in the heart, the circus is not for you. It appeals to thrill-seekers, who enjoy height, jumping from as high 30 feet into a net.
The week came to an end with two major shows that hopefully caused the guests to want more so that they will revisit next year.
